About the Guest

Ashliyn Burgos is currently an Africa Analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and a full-time student at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, pursuing a master’s in Security Studies with a concentration in Terrorism and Substate Violence. After only 3 years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Peace, War, and Defense with a minor in Medical Anthropology. Prior to the DoD, Ashliyn worked as an intelligence analyst for the World Bank, where she focused on various African issues such as the Burkina Faso coup, M23’s movement in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and al-Shabaab terrorist attacks in Mogadishu. Additionally, Ashliyn was a 2023 HBCU Summer Institute Fellow for the Georgetown Center for Security Studies.
