About the Guest
Mike Sexton is the Senior Policy Advisor for AI & Digital Technology at Third Way’s Economics Program and is regularly seen on or quoted in The Hill, i24 (Israel), Al Hurra (US), Al Arabiya (Saudi Arabia), Al Ghad (Egypt), and Al Araby (Qatar). He was named to the inaugural “40 Under 40” cohort by the Middle East Policy Council at the age of 29 and is a member of Foreign Policy for America and the OODA Network. He is the lead editor of Cyber War & Cyber Peace (I.B. Tauris, 2022), an anthology of expert essays on cyber conflict in the Middle East. He has guest lectured or led discussions at the Palestinian-American Chamber of Commerce, Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, and the Harvard Arab Alumni Association, and has appeared on or been quoted in Zenger, ABC (Australia), Nikkei (Japan), and Al Qahera (Egypt). He is proficient in Arabic, Hebrew, and Spanish.
Mike holds an MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a concentration in Technology and Security, where he served as the first Associate Editor for Cyber Security at the Georgetown Security Studies Review and won the Director’s Citizenship Award. He has a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago, completed in three years. Mike studied intensive fourth year-level Modern Standard Arabic and the Levantine Arabic dialect abroad at the Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman, Jordan.
